All Eyes Forward
Spotted Deer | Axis axis
ABOUT THE PHOTO
A small herd of chital, or spotted deer, pauses on a forest trail in Dudhwa, every head turned the same direction — likely toward something just out of frame. Found across most of India’s national parks, chital are highly social animals that almost always move in herds, a strategy that gives them more eyes and ears to detect predators like tigers and leopards lurking in the undergrowth nearby.
